Newbie question: How do I get good photos of the night sky there?

cool photography ideas I bought myself before recently an EOS 600 d with standard kit, now that I've been experimenting around for something, I want to shoot photos of the night sky.
With the standard kit from Canon (18-55) are not, so much is clear :(creates the cam not to focus on it and the image remains black, although I have set it on the highest ISO, or also on the bulb, to illuminate long.
Now my photography ideas in the round, which lens is suited for it.
It must be a good telephoto, or a normal zoom is sufficient... or which lens is consistent from the price / performance ratio of general opinion...
There is so much on the market that I no more know after some trawling through,... like and what...
Thank you sincerely ;)
Let the lens once, this is not the big problem here.
(1) Auto focus does not work here of course. On manual focus and infinite set.
(2) Bulb is well and good, but how long you're exposed because?
I think I've got my (beginners) errors found-> auto focus switch
All right, then can't Yes not go...
Would 10 minutes be... enough exposure?
for the star of tails - it should be a good half hour, or...?
The lens is quite usable! The ISO values leave please at 100, the Bildeer noise due to the long exposure time and so.
The images turn ideas for photography schrf value to the maximum then at best the ISO because live mode and sharpen using zoom on a very bright star.
Then the ISO value 100 put on.
The exposure time is very different, it depends on how bright the sky is.
But I would start with 1 minute and me back then buttons. Not long to expose otherwise you have no stars more in the picture but small strips, looks out of focus.
Use the camera with self-timer, or using a cable release.
